Robotics mechanics

Mechanical design for mobile robots

We design the structure supporting the robot’s performance: chassis, locomotion, transmission, component placement and sensor integration.

Chassis and drivetrain of a mobile robot

Mechanical architecture

A platform sized for its mission.

Locomotion

Choose suitable kinematics and transmission.

Differential drive

Simple, robust architecture for platforms with two or four driven wheels.

Omnidirectional drive

Mecanum or omni wheels when lateral maneuverability is critical.

All-terrain

Wheels, suspension, torque and gearing adapted to uneven ground and payload.

Motor, transmission and suspension of a mobile robot

Sensors

Position cameras, LiDAR and IMU for better perception.

Field of view, occlusion, vibration, rigidity and geometric frames directly affect localization and perception. Mechanical integration is designed together with ROS 2 architecture and calibration.

Prototype

Design, manufacture, assemble and measure.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can you start from an existing chassis?

Yes. We can adapt a mobile base, add sensor mounts or revise the layout to integrate electronics and payload.

How do you choose the drivetrain?

Based on mass, slope, speed, wheel diameter, transmission efficiency, ground conditions and target runtime.

Does mechanical design affect navigation?

Yes. Backlash, slip, vibration and sensor placement affect robot odometry, perception and control.

Project

Need to design or improve a mobile base?

Describe the expected payload, terrain, speed and runtime.
